Date filmed: Tuesday the 4th of June 2024 Videos filmed between 18:57 and 19:28 Route: New Guildford Line Between Oxshott (OXS) and Cobham & Stoke d'Abernon (CSD) Stations Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: Littleheath Lane, Oxshott (KT11 2QS) This video features about half an hour's worth of trains at this residential crossing in Oxshott, Surrey. It's found on the New Guildford Line which leaves the South West Main Line just after Surbiton and runs to Guildford via Effingham Junction. In the peak (rush hour) time, a few London to Portsmouth trains use the line rather than travelling via Woking likely to ease congestion there, and one is seen in this video. There's also a 12-car empty coaching stock move from Guildford to Clapham Yard, but the most notable catch is the (then) recently re-liveried Class 455 in BR-Esque colours, unit 455 868. Hope you enjoy! These alarms are so quiet in this video as they had switched over to their 'night mode' setting, though they seem to do so rather early compared to most likely because of the affluent residential surroundings. Even in day mode, they aren't particularly loud though. The crossing in this form dates to the mid-2000's and is controlled from Woking. Some rather unusual barrier light covers can be seen here in the style of those which used to house halogen bulb-type ones, but the bulbs in those are LED. Still, it's intriguing they still remain.
