The Telangana Police Women Safety Wing (WSW) is a department of the Telangana State Police that works to ensure the safety, dignity, and empowerment of women in the state. The Wing was carved out from the Women Protection Cell, CID, in 2014. The WSW has a number of initiatives that focus on creating a safe environment for women and ensuring their protection from violence and harassment in both public and private spaces. These initiatives include: The SHE (Safety, Help and Empowerment) Teams: These are all-women teams that patrol public places and provide assistance to women in distress. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit: This unit investigates cases of human trafficking and helps to rescue victims. The NRI Cell: This cell provides assistance to women who are married to non-resident Indians (NRIs) and who are facing violence or abuse. The Missing Persons Monitoring Cell: This cell tracks down missing persons, especially women and children. The BHAROSA (Befriending Hands for Restoring Original Self and Acquiring Strength) Centres: These are one-stop centers that provide a range of services to women who have been victims of violence, including counseling, medical care, legal assistance, and shelter. The WSW also works to raise awareness about women's rights and to promote gender equality. It does this through a variety of programs and initiatives, including: School and college awareness programs: These programs teach students about their rights and how to protect themselves from violence. Community awareness programs: These programs are held in communities to raise awareness about women's rights and to encourage people to report cases of violence against women. Media campaigns: The WSW runs media campaigns to raise awareness about women's rights and to promote gender equality. The WSW is committed to ensuring the safety and security of women in Telangana. It works tirelessly to provide assistance to women who are victims of violence and to promote gender equality. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact the WSW at 100 or 1098.
