In our previous video on the front axle, we told that the wheels are fixed on to the stub axle. To get the steering action, the stub axles are hinged to the steering knuckle at the axle beam. The kingpin forms the pivot of this hinge and the stub axle turns on this kingpin. To reduce the wear between the parts, ball bearings are used. Over two ball bearings, the stub axle wheels revolve. There are four types of Stub Axle. Elliot stub axle, Reversed Elliot stub axle, Lamoine stub axle and reversed Lamoine stub axle. In this video, we will be talking about each type of stub axle.
