(Graphic Content for informational purposes only) The Fremont Police Department on Friday held a news conference and released body camera footage from the officer-involved shooting earlier this week. Police say the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Michael Allen Felch of Fremont, allegedly fired shots at a marked patrol car occupied by an officer who was heading back to the department. It happened Monday just before 11 p.m. on Civic Center Drive near the intersection of Washington West and Washington Hospital ER. Police say the officer made a U-turn heading toward the gunfire after he realized shots were being fired at him. Two other officers in the area responded to the radio call of shots fired. In the video, you can see Felch on the ground, waving his arms. You can also see his gun on the ground next to him. Authorities say they ordered him to raise his arms and not reach for the gun, which he ignored. Felch then crawled toward the gun, picked it up and pointed it at the officers. Officers then shot at him which caused him to fall to the ground. Yet, officials say he continued to move and ignored the officer's commands. More responding officers and a canine unit assisted in detaining Felch. Felch was provided medical aid but died at the scene, according to officials. A handgun was recovered under Felch's torso, police say. No officers were injured during the incident.
