WR: KILKERRAN 12 yo, 8 yo Cask Strength (2018 Bourbon+2019 Sherry) & a bit of Campbeltown History

INTRODUCTION : Today I’m doing a small KILKERRAN overview/rundown, a single malt produced by the GLENGYLE distillery (under the supervision of the J & A Mitchell family’s distillers, so SPRINGBANK, if you like). I’m reviewing the KILKERRAN 12 yo & then 2 samples (more details below) of 2 different versions of the 8 yo Cask Strength (one Bourbon casks matured, the other Sherry cask matured), but also, before that, giving you a hint of why the Campbeltown region was so productive, whisky wise at the end of the 19 th century, but, also, why it did, unfortunately, decline, almost 30 years after only...More about the GLENGYLE distillery as well in the video. PRECISE TIMING : 0:00 Introduction 1:50 About Campbeltown & its distilleries 3/ 13:06 About GLENGYLE distillery 21:09 Nosing & Tasting KILKERRAN 12 y.o. bottled in 2016 (70 % Bourbon casks, 30 % Sherry casks), 46 % (a bottle of my collection) 31:09 Nosing & Tasting KILKERRAN 8 y.o. « Cask Strength » bottled in 2018/3rd batch, (Bourbon casks), 56,5 % (sample kindly provided by Luna Arran, big thanks to her) 39:48 Nosing & Tasting KILKERRAN 8 y.o. « Cask Strength » bottled in 2019, re-charred Oloroso Sherry casks, 57,1 % (Note that I didn’t have the informations about the re-charring before doing the video, so I think that process might explain some notes I found in my opinion).
