Dr. Khosroabadi new & Innovative No Scar ( 5mm) bunion procedure. Foot & Ankle Alliance 877-FOOT-911 www.FixMyFoot.com DRK: HI Were here with Jessica and she had her surgery last Friday. I belive today is day five, so how are you doing Jessica? Jessica: I'm doing really good. DRK: How much pain have you ahd? Jessica: Very little, first day or so I had pain. DRK: Okay, do you mind if we show your foot really quick? Jessica: Go ahead. DRK: So we operated on her left foot and this is day one, you can see its in a little bit of an exaggerated position, but that's how the minimal incision bunion surgery works. As you can see right here her incision is about 5mm, two small stiches and she has one K wire in her toe. So Jessica tell me how much have you been walking since the surgery? Jessica: I've been walking amlost everyday. I bring the kids to school. I drive. I'm going to lunch, shopping at the store, do my laundry. Go up and down stairs. DrK: So which day did you start doing all of this? Jessica: I started doing that about like day two. Day 2 I started walking around, I didn't have any pain or swelling. DrK; So how about day one? Jessica: Day one was fine at first I was a little groggy from the anesticia, um, but other than that I was a little tiny bit of pain that day, but that's it. Not a lot, it was fine. DrK; And how much pain medicaction did you have to take after surgery? Jessica: Not much, I've probably taken in all three pills. DrK: 3 pills and was just the first day. Jessica: Yes DrK; So are you kind of like surprised at the kind of recovery you are having compared to other surgerys? Jessica: Yes, I am shocked. DrK: SO what were you expecting? Jessica: I was expecting a lengthy recovery, at least being laid up for a week. Not able to walk. In pain, a lot of swelling. DrK; How did you come to that conclusion? Did you talk to people who had surgery? Jessica: Yes, I've had surgery before and met with people who had bunion surgery and they said it was very painful. Very long recovery period. DrK: SO how has this met your expectations as far as, um, because we talked about it being a very small incision. We called it "Percatanious Bunion Surgery" and your recovery is going to be fast. Your going to be walking and your not going to have much pain and very little swelling. Um, I guess there was, were you convinced this was how it was going to be? Jessica: I guess not, I guess I was kind of expecting to feel worse hoping for the best and I got the best! It's amazing! DrK; And have you been sharing this with other people? Jessica: Oh yeah. DrK: What has been the response? Jessica: They can't belive it, they're shocked. My family, friends, are all amazed at how well I am doing. DrK: SO I remember I gave you two different types of shoes. One was the regular shoe we give everyone; the one with the velcore. And then I kind of knew your lifestyle and how active you are. I gave you aslo a boot. I said if you're going to go shopping and be running around just wear the boot atleast. Which one have you been using? Jessica: definitely the boot just because its easier to walk in. it keeps off the pressure off of the incision sight and bunion area so its really really handy for my lifestyle. DRK: So I remember when I called you a couple nights ago to see how you were doing and you said it felt like you didn't have surgery. Jessica: right yeah. No pain. DRK; And what are you doing, are you icing your foot. Jessica: Yes I actually so ice my foot every couple of hours. I sit up and rest and ice it a liitle bit just to make sure I don't get any swelling per your instructions. That's really all I do. I don't take any medication or anything. I go about my day. A little slower of course, but its good. DRK: and um, I've seen you walk in here and I couldn't resist noticing you didn't have a limp even thought you were wearing the boot but you were walking very normal. So when you are wearing the boot and walking do you have any pain at all? Jessica: No, not really. Every little while I will feel a little something, but I mean its fine. It is a heavy boot. DRK: this is the first post-operative day and we just took xrays and everything look fantastic as planned. Next week we are going to take that one sucher you have on the side out. You won't even notice that incision was made because it is so small. Then in about three weeks we are going to remove that wire that is in your toe holding the toe into position where we cut the bone. Then once we remove that you can go into any shoe that feel comfortable. I see you have very little swelling. Jessica: yeah DRK: The swelling is almost no-exsistant. Alright, thanks for doing this interview with me. I appreciate it and talk to you soon. Jessica: Thank you. Okay No Scar : 5mm Incision No pain: Virtually None
