Avoid fern-related heartbreaks by getting yourself ferns that can live in an indoor environment. There are LOTS of ferns out there and it is important to know what type of fern you are getting in order to provide them with proper care. Not all ferns are alike! Temperate ferns will not be ideal for growing indoors so aim for tropical and Australian species. Not all ferns are into being wet, epiphytic ferns prefer to dry out slightly between watering!!! Ferns we recommend for indoors: Microsorum Musifolium ‘Crocodyllus’ - Crocodile Fern Terrestrial, Warm growing, Keep soil moist, prefers indirect but bright, filtered light Platycerium sp. - Staghorn, Moosehorn, etc. Epiphytic, Cool - Warm growing, Let soil dry out slightly between watering, prefers up to 5 hours of morning sun Asplenium nidus - Bird's Nest Fern Terrstrial and Epiphytic, Warm growing, keep soil moist, prefers ~3 hours of morning sun Davallia fejeensis - Rabbit's Foot Fern Terrestrial and Epiphytic, Cool - Warm growing, Let soil dry out slightly between watering, tolerates indirect light Phlebodium aureum Terrestrial and Epiphytic, Cool - Warm growing, Let soil dry out slightly between watering, prefers ~2-3 hours of morning sun Microsorum diversifolium - Kangaroo Paw Fern Terrestrial and Epiphytic, Warm growing, Keep soil moist, not soggy, tolerates indirect light.
