Another reason you should buy a local condo that mainly locals buy is that there's a technical requirement that most of the units be owned by Thais for a foreigner to buy a condo as well. As for getting a loan to buy a condo, when I asked a loan officer from a bank, as a foreigner you only qualify for 50% Loan to Value, meaning financing of only half of the total value of the condo, and you need to provide pay slips to prove your have legitimate income in Thailand. There may or may not be more or less requirements to this as I never ended up getting a loan and it's been over 2 years since I talked to a loan officer. You should also try to get a condo on a higher level not only for the view but the lower levels tend to have issues with mold and humidity which become a huge issue down the road especially if you travel frequently and don't want to return to a moldy room. They are also much louder being closer to the roads. It's my opinion that the extra money spent on a higher floor here is better spent than a larger room. Ultimately, I recommend you come out here and slowly form your own opinions and preferences around these topics and make decisions that you are confident with and only use the advice of others like me as a starting point to start your own journey in Asia.
