0:00 Intro 1:29 Walk begins at Rop Krung Canal Did you know there’s a quiet canal path right in the middle of Bangkok’s Old Town? Today we’re starting from MRT Sanam Chai station and heading north along the Rop Krung canal. Cars pass on the nearby roads, but the walkway itself is often empty, making it a rare spot in the city where you can take the time to slow down. What makes this route special are the historic buildings that line both sides. You’ll pass the gilded spires of Wat Ratchabophit temple, the 19th-century Saranrom Palace once used by royalty, elegant European-inspired government halls, and the Ministry of Defence with its grand yellow façade. It’s a mix of Thai temples, colonial influence, and neoclassical civic buildings that together give Bangkok's Old Town its distinctive look. After a night out in Bangkok’s crowded, energetic streets, starting the morning with a calm walk like this feels like a reset; time to enjoy the city’s history and architecture at a slower pace. I hope this video shows you the calmer face of Bangkok, where temples, palaces, and canals tell stories just as powerful as the nightlife.
