(Just noticed the typing error on one of the captions - "Shrewsbury" without the "r"- apologies!) More archive content - this time featuring 46115 Scots Guardsman on the Conwy Valley branch in North Wales - and on a separate day, on Gresford Bank and just north of Shrewsbury. The Conwy Valley branch is a spectacular setting for steam and a rare event. The single line connects Llandudno Junction with Blaenau Ffestiniog and is a bit of a hidden gem - with some steep gradients and (possibly) the longest single line tunnel in Britain? It's not easy to captain the essence of the line in a short piece of video although the exit from a short tunnel into Pont-y-Pant station comes close, at least for me. If you don't like the well-worn sound of a Royal Scot - or the dramatic effect of steam blasting out of a tunnel and obscuring your view for a couple of minutes - then this wont be your favourite piece of video! Some of the other steam charters have been defeated by the wooded wet cuttings, tunnels and gradients on this route - so the sight of Scots Guardsman in full flight is extra impressive. The last two sequences show the power and grace of Scots Guardsman - I wasn't convinced the decaying footbridge would hold the weight of several people hence the last minute hand-held shot through the vegetation and some distortion from the microphone. Many more videos in the DBLM Steam collection - accessible via the Dave Benjamin channel on Youtube or the Landscape Moments website www.landscapemoments.co.uk Thank you for viewing - and please feel very welcome to share any of the links, make a comment and subscribe!
