The Cheddar Man

This is the Cheddar Man, a roughly 10,000-year-old Mesolithic hunter-gatherer. He was found in Gough's Cave in the Cheddar Gorge, in Somerset England, at the tail end of the Victorian Era. Cheddar Man stems from the Western Hunter-Gatherer group that crossed the Doggerland land bridge, before rising sea levels made the British Isles...well, islands. And the DNA evidence shows that the Cheddar Man did really look like this - with dark skin, dark curly hair, and blue eyes. His model, made by the same twins who made Otzi's very fair-complexioned model, caused some controversies. But everything we know about the group of Mesolithic hunter-gatherers that the Cheddar Man comes from tells us that this model is correct.
