Gears PC Community:   / discord   In this video I am using DXVK 2.7.1 combined with a local install of Special K (SpecialK64.dll named to dinput8.dll). I use Special K this way, but global injection works and is recommended by the team. DXVK is also recommended by them, if you have performance issues. EXPLANATION WITH LOTS OF WORDS: -DXVK is used to translate D3D9 calls to Vulkan (running DirectX 9 games are weird in current year) which will provide performance benefits, given a supported GPU, as well as properly interacting with Windows' full screen optimization feature so HDR, VRR, and borderless fullscreen work properly. -Special K allows for better control over certain system-level features. DXVK doesn't allow FSO unless FSE is stated in dxvk.conf (annoying to deal with). Special K fixes this by "promoting" the way the game displays itself (DXGI flip model bs I don't totally understand yet) allowing for seamless tabbing (no screen flicker). Special K allows for better control over HDR; while you can enable it within dxvk.conf, you don't have as much control. It also has a better frame limiter, inducing NVIDIA Reflex. I also like to enabled the enhanced haptics option since I use a DualSense.
