This is a short video looking into power options for the Blackmagic ATEM Mini. The ATEM Mini can be powered by battery for those occasions when you need to get a live-stream up and running without mains power. The cheapest option was to buy a simple 12v DC rechargeable battery. The more expensive option was buying an industry standard V-Mount/V-Lock battery. Both options needed a power cable with a 2.5mm x 5.5mm DC barrel. The ‘12v battery’ option worked well although the capacity markings were questionable. The unbranded 12v battery model I tried also didn’t have a charge level indicator. The Powerextra V-Mount/V-Lock battery option felt to be a more robust solution. This V-Mount option included a charge level indicator and had two power outputs: a D-TAP output (for the ATEM) and a USB output for any other small devices. Both battery options used Lithium Ion technology and should have a good charge cycle life.
