Jeremy Reaves has heard a lot nos along his football journey, but after Washington’s playoff-clinching overtime win on Sunday Night Football, he heard the most important yes of his life. As his teammates celebrated the Commanders 30-24 win over the Falcons, the safety found girlfriend Mikaela Worley in the stands, brought her to the field and proposed. “A year ago I was at one of my lowest,” Reaves wrote on a social post. “You helped get me back to my best!” Reaves starred at Pensacola Catholic High School and then played all four seasons at South Alabama, where he awarded the 2017 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year after tallying 104 tackles, 3 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles. Despite balling in the Senior Bowl with 8 tackles and an interception, Reaves went undrafted and signed with the Eagles, who cut him before the season. Jeremey then signed with Washington, but was cut four consecutive seasons before finally making the active roster in 2022, the same season he made All-Pro as a special teams player. He dedicated to the honor to his mother, an Air Force veteran who passed away the previous Thanksgiving. Reaves is a strong supporter of Rally on the Runway, a fashion show featuring kids with cancer, that raises funs for childhood cancer research. Jeremy tore his ACL in October of 2023, and Worley helped him bounce back for the Commanders incredible 2024 season. “Every time life tore me down, you built me right back up and spoke life into me!” Reaves said. “You carried the weight when I couldn't during some tough days. God makes no mistakes, and he gave me you when I needed you most! 8+ years of friendship, a lifetime to go as one!” (photos/videos: Commanders, Reaves)
