Police say they have recovered military explosive devices and equipment in Benoni, on Gauteng's East Rand. Police Minister Bheki Cele says police are reporting higher levels of crime in their areas during load-shedding - including bodies being found once the lights come back on again. South Africa is currently enduring stage four rolling blackouts - after days of stage six. Cele was speaking during a safer festive season campaign in Cape Town. Today, Cele will lead the annual Festive Season Inspection Roadshow in Gauteng. He will be joined by national and provincial commissioners. They will assess the police Festive Season operational plans to ensure the safety of all residents and tourists in the country during the holiday period. Eskom will finally release its delayed 2021/2022 financial results this afternoon. This comes after the troubled power utility postponed the release that was due by 30 September as per the Public Finance Management Act. Eskom said this is due to the delayed appointment of external auditors and the work involved in carrying out a new audit. Eskom reported a net loss of R18.9 billion in the 2020/21 financial year.
