Description of Bhu-mandala as per Srila VadirajaTirta’s Bhugola Varnanam ‘Bhügola Varnanam’ is a Cosmography book written by Srila Vädiraja Tirtä (1480-1600CE) presenting the exact account of the Structure of the Universe, as he was personally visited all the places of the Universe, for he is the future Vayudeva. “Bhügola Varnanam” presents the different divisions and the shape of the Bhu-mandala. It describes its divisions over the surface and also the divisions inside the thickness of the Bhu-mandala, presenting the location of the 7 lower planets and the 28 Hellish planets. Further describes the carrier of the Bhu-mandala (the Eight Directional Elephents, Ananta Sesa and Lord Kurma). Then finally combining all these details of the Bhu-mandala over the surface and through the thickness, describes the shape of the Bhu-mandala and establishes with some practical references. Description of Jambhudvipa as per Srila VadirajaTirta’s BhugolaVarnanam Then describes the nine divisions and the shape of Jambu-dvipa, in contrast to the description of the Çrémad-Bhägavatam. The symmetry in 4-directions indicates the wonderful creative hand of the Supreme Lord. Then further describes the nine divisions of Bharata-varñha, culminating with the position and shape of the Bharata khanda (our Earth Globe). Seeing the Unseen, Authenticity of the Vedic descriptions Million dollar question: Why Mount Meru, Bigger Himalayas & Jambhu-dvipa are not seen by us? Finally Bhugola varnanam presents a right perspective about various reasons, because of which we will not be able to see the different parts of the Bhu-mandala, of the Jambu-dvipa and of the Bharata-varsha, though they are very near to us in comparison to the visible Sun, Moon and Stars. This topic is supported by providing various Puranic and historical narrations establishing their existence, in spite of not being seen by us.
