Japan's ideal MPA - Airframe, engine, and onboard systems developed for the P-1 - [1] Airframe

Since its establishment, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) has been emphasizing the securing of important maritime transportation routes, or "sea lanes. The introduction of 101 P-3C anti-submarine patrol aircraft is a clear indication of this emphasis. The P-3C was first delivered to the JMSDF in 1981, but due to its lack of submarine detection capability, range, advance speed, and search and identification capability, as well as the aging of the aircraft, a successor aircraft was needed. This led to the development of the P-1. The P-1 is unprecedented in the world in that (1) the airframe, (2) the engine, and (3) the onboard systems were all specially designed and developed for the ideal patrol aircraft suitable for the missions required by the JMSDF. In the following video, I plan to explain the engine and onboard systems. In addition to demonstrating the performance of the P-1 in the video series, I would like to finally convey that the P-1 was the best choice for a patrol aircraft in the expected situation in the waters around Japan, judging from the overall performance of the P-1.
