Edit: 4th January 2021 RIP Ted. We still miss you! 1952 BMW R67/2: Very pleased to say that Ted's beautiful old BMW is now SOLD! July 28, 2020 EDIT: We heard back from the new owner that he removed the transmission and inspected the pawl, only to find that the “dog” was installed upside down! This is the reason that the kickstarter engaged a bit, but slipped more often than not. He flipped the dog over and it should be the end of that problem. He is still going over the bike to address wiring issues, some hardware upgrades (e.g. changing to stock hardware) and a few other things. It's great news! It was a really positive experience and the bike is going to a great new home and a terrific owner who is passionate about bringing the bike back to full working condition. As part of the process to sell the bike, we were asked if we could demonstrate that the bike is able to shift through all the gears. So we thought it might be a little fun to try and get the bike running again and take it for a ride up and down the lane. It was the first time I have ridden an old BMW motorcycle. I found It to be very smooth and stable and also much faster than I expected. I liked the saddle and riding position very much. It felt relaxed & comfortable. As you will hear from the video, the gear shift changes obviously take longer to engage than more modern bikes, but it's all part of the enjoyment of riding this lovely old bike. Very best wishes to the new owner of this lovely old bike! It was a pleasure to meet him and we hope that he will be very happy with this wonderful bike.
