Demonstration of the BEAUTIFUL Zenith Trans-Symphony Royal 2000
The Zenith Trans-Symphony Royal 2000 was America's first all transistor portable FM/AM radio. It was introduced in January 1961 at $189.95 but was later dropped to $149.95 in October. The radio has 3 built-in antennas: a Wave-Magnet AM antenna. a concealed FM antenna, and a beautiful telescoping dipole FM antenna. To accomplish the deep rich sound, the designer, Gordon Guth, flipped the chassis upside down and attached it to the underside of the top of the cabinet. This cleared space for the large 5" x 7" speaker and opened up the large cabinet for that rich acoustical sound. I failed to mention this in the video, but with the slide switch set to Tuner in the back of the radio, audio can be fed to an amplifer, such as a home audio system. #zenith #shortwave #shortwaveradio #radio #transistor
