The two swerve their car off the road to avoid hitting some unknown creature and crash into the woods. While Max fixes the car, Laura explores the woods nearby and hears voices that call out to someone named Silas. Panicking, she flees and returns to Max. They are soon confronted by a local county sheriff who becomes suspicious of their situation. The sheriff orders Laura and Max to stay the night at a motel near Hackett's Quarry, but the two drive to the camp anyway. After they arrive, Laura sees somebody in the basement. The two break the basement door open to investigate but find nothing.
