This video shows all of the features of the Winn Speed Lock 6" Precision machine Vise with its integrated quick change jaws system. The Speed Lock Vise uses an angle lock design with movable mounting block. The Winn 6 inch precision milling vise has an integrated quick change vise jaw system. Our mounting blocks have receiver holes to accept the round nuts that hold the vise jaws to the mounting blocks. This allows you to change vise jaws in 30 seconds or less. We are faster than the Kurt vise dovelock system. We have the only quick change vise system that does not require special jaws. Vise jaws have the same hole spacing as Kurt vise Angloc, Teco, Parlec, Wilton and many other 6" Vises that use the angle lock design. Because the Speed Lock Vise uses the round nuts to hold the jaws into the mounting block and the mounting blocks have receiver holes and slots and NOT tapped holes. This means that when you go to mount the jaws on the back of the mounting blocks and it has been a long time since you have used the back of the mounting blocks. It only requires a simple cleaning instead of having to hand tap the 1/2-13 holes that are full of dirt. Another advantage of the Round Nuts to hold the jaws is that the 1/2-13 cap screws always have the proper length of thread engagement. Which means the vise jaws are always held securely. Because the vise jaws can be changed quickly and easily, it means a machinist will change to a different style jaw when needed instead of using a jaw that won't work as well. It also means they will move the jaws to the outside of the mounting blocks and use the vise instead of removing the vise and mounting the part to the milling table. The systems that use master jaws have a loss of up to 1-3/4" of the opening size of the vise. 3) The WINN Speed Lock Vise system in integrated into the mounting blocks of the vise. This feature allows the user to mount vise jaws on both the inside and the outside of the mounting blocks. The systems like Kurt Vise and Carvesmart are designed to use master jaws are not able to be used on the outside of the mounting blocks. So if you need to mount vise jaws on the outside of the mounting blocks, the master jaws need to be removed and then you need to use the conventional bolt on jaws. Any time savings of the their quick change system is now lost. 4) The WINN Speed Lock Vise system use a Round Nut assembly that is added to the soft vise jaws to secure the vise jaws to the mounting blocks. This allows the soft vise jaws to be removed by loosening the 1/2-13 bolts only a half of a turn. Because we have replaced the tapped holes in the mounting blocks with a keyhole slot to accept the Round Nut, this means that the keyhole slot can be quickly cleaned out with a compressed air blow gun. With the tapped holes eliminated in the mounting blocks the used no longer has to clean out the oil, chips and debris that collects in the tapped holes in the mounting blocks 5) The Vise Jaws for the WINN Speed Lock Vise use the same bolt pattern as all American Made 6" Angle Lock Style vises. So to use any of the custom vise jaws that a user has already made. They only need to add (2) Round Nut assemblies to each vise jaw to be able to use them on the Winn Speed Lock Vise. The quick change systems that use master jaws are not able to accept any of the user's existing custom jaws. So the user would have to re-make all their custom jaws to fir the master jaws. With the systems that use low head socket head cap screws the user would have to machine a t-slot into all of their custom jaws.
