The Poblenou Coffee Table The table top is made from Sweet Chestnut & tapers from the centre to both ends. The legs are Walnut, turned to a taper, with a round tenon, which fit into an angled through mortise in the top. The tenon was wedged with a piece of Sweet Chestnut, angled towards the table centre. The feature of this project is the inlay of alternating Walnut, Sapele & Spalted Beech. The strands for this project were part of an off-cut from the Florentine Table drawer front – watch that build here    • The Florentine Table | Unique Design ...   In July 2022 I travelled to Florentine Kitchen Knives, based in Barcelona, Spain (Poblenou is the area of Barcelona they are based). I attended an amazing course with Tomer Botner & Geoff Feder (based in NY, USA). We made a stainless steel 8" chefs knife, dubbed the "Double Agent". The design was a combination of Geoff's famous K-tip blade, and Tomer's signature stacked handle, bookended by brass. It was a brilliant weekend, and the knife design & process inspired me to make the Florentine Side table project – with the offcut of the drawer front I made for that project, I made the inlay for this project.
