A big thank you to Fred for sending me this native UK ant species. Acorn ants live in the south of England and South Wales. They are a shy ant species and acorn ants tend to nest under tree logs, sticks, bark and tree stumps. But they get their name for loving to nest in acorns. Hence the name acorn ants.
