Sanam Loghavi, MD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, comments on the use of optical genome mapping to improve the classification, risk stratification, and personalized treatment strategies for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other myeloid malignancies. Dr Loghavi highlights that optical genome mapping can detect cryptic abnormalities with high reliability due to its high resolution and is, therefore, a valuable tool in clinical practice.
