In January 2025, seven-year-old Mohammed Sarim from North Karachi went missing after attending a local madrasa. Despite extensive search efforts, he remained unaccounted for 11 days. On January 18, his body was discovered in the underground water tank of his residential complex, Anam Apartments. Initially, both family and police had inspected the tank but found nothing, likely due to its high water level at the time. A subsequent water shortage lowered the tank's level, revealing Sarim's body. The autopsy indicated multiple injuries, particularly around the neck, suggesting the death was not accidental. However, authorities awaited further analysis to determine the exact cause. Residents expressed shock and anger, criticizing the apartment's management for inadequate safety measures.
