2025 Arcfox Kaola S in-depth Walkaround The Arcfox Kaola is one of China’s quirkiest EVs, originally designed as a four-seater tailored for mothers with young children. Its name, "Kaola," is a direct transliteration of the Chinese word for koala, reflecting its family-friendly focus. The latest version, the Kaola S, retains the same dimensions (4500 mm long, 1870 mm wide, and 1655 mm tall) and a 2820 mm wheelbase, but introduces subtle changes, such as removing the black trim above the window line. The MPV-style design and practical sliding door on the right-hand side remain, ensuring easy access to the rear seats. The most significant update in the Kaola S is the shift from a four-seater to a five-seater configuration. The original Kaola featured two rear seats with a fold-out table for baby care, while the Kaola S now offers a more traditional rear bench. Despite this change, the car maintains its family-friendly features, including a baby-level skin-friendly interior made with organic antibacterial agents and a cabin free from harmful aldehydes and benzene. The Kaola S seems better suited for mothers with older children, offering ample space with 1025 mm between the front and rear rows and an interior height of 1245 mm. Under the hood, the Kaola S retains the same powertrain as its predecessor, featuring a front-mounted 120 kW electric motor delivering 240 Nm of torque. It boasts a 500 km range (CLTC) powered by a 58.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, which can charge from 30% to 80% in just 26 minutes. The car also supports V2V and V2L charging, adding to its practicality. While the Kaola S loses some of its original quirkiness, it gains broader appeal with its expanded seating and retained family-focused features, making it a versatile option for modern families.
