At the summit, you can peer down into the mystical green lagoon or take in the extraordinary views. On a clear day, you have the chance of seeing both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans....amazing!! After Irazu, we will descend back to the historical city of Cartago. We will visit the mysterious ruins of the old cathedral and view the beautiful Basilica of our "Virgen de los Angeles" with rich displays of carvings, statues, stained glass and art. Next stop is the amazing Lankester Gardens. Here you will find over 800 species of orchids, bromeliads, and other plants under protection of the University or Costa Rica. Whether you are an avid orchid lover, or just appreciate their beauty, the Lankester Gardens is a must. Finally for our last stop we head on into the Valley of Orosi. Here we will stop for a delicious lunch at a typical Costa Rican restaurant with a wonderful view of the surrounding valley. Take in the spectacular scenery along the way to visit the famous Casa del Sonador. The 'casa' is made of recycled wood and carvings. Inside you will meet the artisan who carves statuettes from the trunks, roots, and branches or coffee wood. This Costa Rican folk art is truly unique to this region.
