AUV Technology for Search and Recovery Missions

This video was done by CNN showing how AUV technology can benefit search and recovery missions. C & C Technology's Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) has customized equipment to map the seafloor. The vehicle is rated to 3,000 m water depth, using side scan sonar, multibeam bathymetry, subbottom chirp, high resolution camera images for mosaicking , and laser bathymetry to map the seafloor. C & C has used the AUV to locate historic ship wrecks such as the Arc Royal, and the German U-Boat U166 in the Gulf of Mexico. It was recently used to locate two airplanes in Venezuela, one of which belonged to the Italian fashion design CEO Vittoio Missoni.
