I was denied SFAS, denied the Q Course, and denied the chance to ever wear the Green Beret, not because I lacked ability or commitment, but because of a medical condition that never once affected my performance, even while operating at the highest levels in some of the most austere environments imaginable. This video is not about bitterness. It is about perseverance. It is about adaptation. It is about finding purpose when the path you wanted is closed. From a near-fatal car accident and traumatic brain injury, to navigating the back route into Special Operations, to multiple denied waivers, to eventually being selected into a Tier One unit, this is the story of learning that sometimes the door that closes is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a better one.
