Various of displaced people inside the shelter in Qamishli STORYLINE: Thousands of Syrian Kurdish families who lived in Aleppo, Tabqa, and Raqqa arrived in the city of Qamishli on Sunday after Syrian government forces advanced in those areas. They were displaced during clashes between government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Speaking before the announcement of a ceasefire later on Sunday, Berivan Ali, a 28-year-old mother from Afrin, said she was accustomed to moving in and out of different locations. “It is part of life's struggle, and it will be fine. But it didn’t go well. They have been attacking us. They attacked us, and so we escaped to save the lives of the kids,” she told The Associated Press. Most families had arrived in Qamishli with their own vehicles and had belongings loaded onto their cars. A cultural centre in the city was turned into a temporary shelter for displaced families.
