Drug abuse in Nigeria ranks among the highest worldwide. What is driving it? DW's senior international correspondent Fanny Facsar and her team secretly filmed how one type of drug has become especially popular among Nigerian youth and is sold at nearly every street corner in Lagos: It is called "Colos" or Colorado, a mix of marijuana and chemicals. Experts warn of a drug epidemic but lament that other policy issues, namely Nigeria's dire economic and security situation, cause the crisis to be overlooked. Street dealers claim that the police is often involved in the business. Sources who work within Nigeria's drug federal agency, NDLEA, have told DW that they are not aware of police taking bribes. They also said they lack enough basic equipment and human resources to carry out more raids against drug networks. 00:00 Nigeria's drug epidemic 05:17 DW speaks with Dr Dokun Adedeji, who runs the Compassionate Care Recovery Initiative, a rehabilitation center in Lagos for substance abusers For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ Follow DW on social media: ►Instagram: / dwnews ►TikTok: / dwnews ►Facebook: / deutschewellenews ►Twitter: / dwnews Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: / dwdeutsch Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutsche... #Nigeria #DrugAbuse #Colos
