Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians (PJO) is a show of substance over style. Its worldbuilding, character arcs, and mystery plot are all very well-written, and present multiple key advantages over its inspiration and rival in Harry Potter. Despite this, it’s somewhat lacking in moment-to-moment fun in the form of fight scenes, effects, tension, and humor.
