Gearing system for greenpower racing. We've added chain retainers to stop the chain jumping off either end, and moved the wheel side bearing outward to decrease torsion stress. If that fails we have a new steel shaft to try but it weighs three times more. Cheers to Nigel and KMF for their help. (Added after Rockingham) - Well, tried the gears and it is quicker, 3:24 in a kit car, not bad but motor taking way too many amps to achieve. Tested the amps on a bench on easiest cog - 5.6A. Changed the gears for straight to motor 17 tooth 2A! Oh well, it does prove that gears need to be on extremely slick bearings to avoid the overheating issues and that all the gear when removed lost the car about 5-7Kg. Last race started 25 min late but still posted 3:33 laps till the end. Would have been in the running for a podium if we had started on time - ho-hum. Roll on 23 June in better, light car.
