The Akron Police Department released dramatic video footage Friday showing the moment a police cruiser going nearly 70 miles per hour slammed into another vehicle while responding to a call. Just before 10 p.m. on Jan. 24, two Akron officers in a marked police cruiser were heading down West Exchange Street with lights and sirens on and, on the dashboard, a bag of Chipotle food. The Akron Police Department reported after the crash that the officers were responding to an “emergency call” as they drove between 30 and 60 mph through several intersections. Dashcam and bodycam video shows the police cruiser pass through three red lights without issues. You can hear the officers announce “You’re good” before proceeding through the intersections. Then, seconds after clearing the Chipotle bag from view, the video shows them approaching another red light, but this time you don’t hear the officers give any indication they’ve checked for traffic, and they don’t realize it until it’s too late. A 63-year-old man in a Kia was heading south through a green light on Rand Avenue at just the wrong moment. The body camera on the officer driving shows he accelerated up to 68 miles an hour right before he T-bones the car. Matt Rascon reports: https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/loc...
