How does the Steel Garden Lawn Edging fix together? Our unique system allows you to connect each piece together seamlessly without the need for fiddly nuts or bolts. Our ’Zip Lock’ system works by driving a stake through interlocking steel rings that are professionally welded onto each end of the strip. This action simultaneously pulls each piece together and anchors the edging into the ground. This connection provides 360-degree protection against any gaps appearing in your edging, regardless of the shapes you want to create. How does the Steel Garden Lawn Edging stay in place? At Weather It, we supply a welded ring and a ground spike every 500 mm on the rear of each edging strip. The spike goes into the ground 2/3 the height of the strip. So, if you buy our 150 mm edging, we supply 450 mm spikes with 300 mm going into the ground. We recommend that you bury at least 1/3 of the height of the edge into the ground for additional stability. This can be achieved by making a channel in the ground for the edge to sit in when installing. How do I end a straight run of Steel Garden Lawn Edging? Easy. We supply end spikes with clips that secure the end of a run. The simple clip goes over the top of the edge, and the spike is driven into the ground to secure it. If you have a requirement that isn’t an exact multiple of 3 metres, then you have two options: 1. Cut one of our strips to your desired length with an angle grinder and use an end spike, or 2. Score a cut on the reverse of the strip at your required length using an angle grinder. Then simply bend the strip to form a corner. The returned edge can be hidden with earth, or the edge can run along a wall or fence if the end of the run stops at a structure. How do I make a 90 corner? You can simply cut the straight length in two pieces using a cutting disc and angle grinder and create a corner of any angle by butting the two pieces up against each other. Another popular method is to score a cut on the reverse of the strip at your required length using an angle grinder. Then simply bend the strip to form a corner by placing a solid timber across the scored edge and lever the edge in the direction you require. The score you have created may close in before you achieve your desired angle, in this case re-score the cut to open it back up again before repeating the bend with the timber. This whole process should take no longer than 5 minutes. Can I create my own shapes? Yes. Our edging can be installed in an almost infinite number of shapes. Our edging will flex to create radius bends. Our ground spikes and the strong connecting system will ensure the edging maintains the shape you form on installation for years to come. Your steel edging can be shaped for your bespoke garden design! What is the Steel Garden Lawn Edging made of? There are three options. We offer our edging in mild Patina Steel, genuine Corten Steel, and sturdy Galvanised Steel. Check out our blog post, which compares Mild Steel and Corten Steel. Don’t just take our word for it; check out what one of the UK’s largest steel suppliers says about the advantages of Corten Steel and comparison vs Mild Steel. How will my order arrive? Your edging will arrive on a pallet. Due to the size, this won’t be able to be tail lifted onto ground level. Therefore, offloading will be required at the delivery address. Our delivery team will be more than happy to do this. All deliveries are fully tracked. See our delivery policy for more info. Lead time is currently 3 to 4 weeks – please enquire if you require a shorter lead time. How long will it take for the edging to weather? Edging is supplied raw steel finish as standard. The finish will start to develop a beautifully unique orange and brown patina in a matter of weeks and will continue to develop over a period of 6 to 12 months. The speed of the weathering process depends on factors such as weather, climate, and proximity to the coast/sea spray. We can supply your edging in any stage of the weathering process from raw steel to full patina. Want to understand more, read our blog post: https://weather-it.co.uk/corten-steel...
