Sandbox MMORPGs are open world, but there is a huge problem with Sandbox MMORPG design. They are immersive, hardcore experiences and usually feature open world pvp, little quests or structure and cater to a very niche MMORPG audience. Lots of these sandbox MMOs are either facing development problems or struggling to grow out their very small playerbase. I just wanted to cover my thoughts on why so many sandbox MMOs are failing or seeing a decline in players. These are all just my thoughts, but I'd love to hear what other people think.
