This Vekoma custom MK-900 mine train coaster opened in 1992 and is the longest and fastest of the four Disney Big Thunder Mountain coasters with a top speed of 40 mph (64 km/h). This one is based on the Walt Disney World version of the ride, but is unique as it is situated on an island in the middle of the Rivers of the Far West, where Tom Sawyer's Island would normally sit. The attraction underwent a year long refurbishment during 2015-2016 when more elements from the California version were added, including rainbow pools of water on the first lift hill cave, new sound effects for the mine elevator on the second lift hill, and new mapping effects for the blasting scene on the third lift hill.
