About the topic: Our guest speaker Cesare Figari Barberis speaks about the psycho-social dynamics at play and the nature of the suffering, understanding the "fantasies" at play, and about the cultural importance of Shusha among Azerbaijani IDPs - compared to that of Sukhumi among Georgian IDPs. He will share with us similarities of the conflicts in Abkhazia and Karabakh and will try to answer the following questions: "why do Azerbaijani IDPs appear to be more traumatised than Georgian IDPs?", and "on a more general level, why does the Azerbaijani population seem to suffer from a cultural trauma while the Georgian public arguably does not?" About the guest speaker: Originally from Italy Cesare Figari Barberis is a 3rd year PhD student at the Graduate Institute of Geneva . Currently he works on his comparative research on trauma and emotions, and post-conflict attitudes of Azerbaijani and Georgian IDPs.
