In this cadaver demonstration, we're exploring the medial (inside) aspect of the left ankle to show you: ✨ What you're seeing: -The medial malleolus (that bony "ankle nubby") -Important tendons running behind it -The tibial nerve - a branch of your sciatic nerve 🔍 The tarsal tunnel connection: This tunnel sits right behind your medial malleolus, and when it gets inflamed, there's nowhere for swelling to go. The result? Nerve compression that can cause: -Tingling in the bottom of your foot -Weakness in intrinsic foot muscles -Pain that travels from ankle to toes This also explains why sciatica can sometimes shoot pain all the way down to your foot - it's all connected through this tibial nerve pathway! Understanding your anatomy helps you understand your pain. 💡 Want to rep your love for anatomy? Check out our merchandise store for awesome gear that celebrates the human body!
