The song begins with a droning bass synthesizer accompanied by various sound effects, including a seagull-like cry created by David Gilmour using a reversed wah-wah pedal setup. The second half features a delicate classical guitar solo. While Gilmour attempted to perform this segment, he wasn't satisfied with the fingerstyle execution and thus enlisted session musician Joe DiBlasi to play the part.
