Here's something different, an observation deck on a museum! With the whole museum telling the story with the Pequot Tribe, it's fitting for an observation deck here to show the surrounding area. Actually, that's the whole purpose of the deck; to look out to the area. An elevator ride up from the lobby will take you 18 stories (approx. 195ft) up to the top. Going up, the glass walls allow you to see the surrounding areas as you ascend to the top. The elevator itself goes at a slow, but decent pace, allowing one to easily take in the view of the area. The whole journey takes roughly a minute to complete. For the elevator geeks out there: Interestingly enough, this elevator is a MontgomeryKONE, with an OTIS indicator, complete with OTIS behavior. MontgomeryKONE originally installed this thing; just take a look at the button layout and the indicator slot, exactly like the others here. At some point, OTIS came in and did a controller upgrade, complete with a new indicator (you can tell the behavior, the indicator displays "EZ" in between *3 and T). This is an interesting one, indeed. The museum, on the Mashantucket reservation, is dedicated to telling the story of the Pequot tribe, starting from the early days all the way to present day. There's even an 18 story observation tower attatched to the museum, allowing people to see the land around them (and Foxwoods, interestingly enough). This is a very fascinating museum to tour through.*** Elevator Specs: Manufactured By: MontgomeryKONE Propulsion System: Hydraulic Floors Served: *3, T (Two Floors) Travel Distance: 18 Stories (Approx: 195ft) Bank Of: 1 Doors: Single Slide Door Safety: Sensors Interlock: GAL (not shown) Phone: KTD (not shown) -Placement: In Box Fixtures: Innovation Universal -Illumination: Amber -Panel Finish: Silver Hall Fixtures: Innovation Universal -Illumination: Incandescent -Panel Finish: Silver Lantern: None -Illumination: - -Panel Finish: - -Location: - Indicator: OTIS Digital -Illumination: Teal Speed: 200FPM (based on the fact it takes a little under a minute to travel up to the deck, approx: 195ft up). The elevator rides just happened to be a very small percentage of my visit. The museum was VERY fascinating to tour through.
