As Bangladesh approaches its general elections, senior journalist Habib Akram continues his special on-ground coverage from Dhaka for Mustaqbil Podcast, engaging directly with communities whose stories are rarely heard. In this video, Habib Akram speaks with members of the Pakistani (Bihari) community in Bangladesh — families who remained in East Pakistan after 1971 and have lived for decades in legal, political, and social limbo. Often referred to as “Biharis,” these Pakistanis migrated from regions such as Bihar, UP, and CP during the 1947 partition and later paid a heavy price for opposing the separation of East Pakistan. More than five decades later, many still live in camps, without full citizenship rights, facing poverty, overcrowded living conditions, and political invisibility. This on-ground conversation explores: The historical roots of the Pakistani/Bihari community in Bangladesh Life inside refugee camps more than 50 years after 1971 The impact of court rulings that granted limited rights but not full dignity How upcoming elections matter — or fail to matter — for stateless communities The human cost of unresolved political decisions This report is part of Habib Akram’s ongoing election coverage from Bangladesh, where he is documenting not just party politics, but the human consequences of history. 💬 Questions for the comments section: Should Pakistan renew efforts to address the fate of these Pakistanis? Has Bangladesh done enough to integrate this community? Can elections bring justice to people forgotten by history? 👉 Subscribe to Mustaqbil Podcast (@mustaqbilpodcast) for international affairs, human stories, and ground reporting from South Asia. 📲 Join our Official WhatsApp Channel – Third Umpire Communications All videos, updates, and programs in one place: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb65... #PakistanisInBangladesh #BihariCommunity #HabibAkram #BangladeshElections #Dhaka #1971Legacy #StatelessPeople #SouthAsiaHistory #HumanStories #ForgottenCommunities #InternationalAffairs #MustaqbilPodcast #GroundReporting #PartitionHistory
