Our visit to Westerham in Kent, and a look around the National Trust Quebec House

We visit the historic, exciting and charming town of Westerham. Found in the northwest corner of Kent it shares links with Sir Winston Churchill, Major General James Wolfe and Alice in Wonderland, to name but a few. We start our tour at the National Trust Quebec House, the childhood home of Major General James Wolfe, victory at the Battle of Quebec. From here, we stroll on towards Westerham Geen, and the statue of a seated Sir Winston Churchill takes centre stage. The area feels very much like a village green, with tea rooms, cafes and of course a pub; The Grasshopper on the Green. We make our way through Market Square, which may confuse some, as it's neither square nor is there a market held there, before heading to the High Street. We take a slight detour along Lodge Lane with its historic 16th-century cottages and continue on down the high street until we reach the Pitt's Cottage and Brook House, with the River Darent flowing past it, close to its source. We return along the high street, paster Westerham Green before taking in the views of the Weald of Kent from St Peter and St Paul's Church.
