Science and technology are transforming our lives and demanding new skills and abilities. Developing citizens and innovators requires new approaches to teaching and learning, along with new ways of thinking about large-scale change and a stronger focus on K-12 education. Explore the current state of education in Canada and what we need to do to catalyze change in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. Dr. Bonnie Schmidt is the president of Let’s Talk Science, a national charitable organization that engages youth and educators in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Bonnie is a passionate advocate for education and the need for change to ensure Canadian youth are prepared to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Bonnie volunteers for several organizations, lives in London and enjoys working with her horse and travelling. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
