The culture has it wrong. The God of the Old Testament is the same as the God of the New Testament. The God of the Old Testament was not merely looking for a reason to smite someone. He continually offered forgiveness and mercy if people would come to Him. David begs for God's forgiveness based on His lovingkindness after his sin with Bathsheba. As Jesus is in the process of being crucified, He cries, "Father forgive them." Peter tells the people on Pentecost that they killed the Messiah but God raised Him from the dead. The people are terrified and ask, "Men and brethren what shall we do?" Peter then tells them that forgiveness is on the table. "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” Today on "In Need of a Refill," Kevin Smith looks at Exodus 4, Exodus 32, Psalm 51, Luke 23, and Acts 2 to talk about "The Forgiving God." We are the Church of Christ in Rock Springs, Wyoming. We know you want to spend time in God's Word so you can grow in your relationship with Him. We have a playlist called "In Need of a Refill" with sermons to provide people an opportunity to dive deeper into God's Word. We also want to provide Bible answers to questions you may have. Questions like, “Why do Christians worship on Sundays?” or “Can Christians drink?” or “Should Christians celebrate holidays?” and many others need to be considered so we know what kind of people God wants us to be. Why do we offer both sermons and question responses? So you can grow in your relationship with God and come to know Him better. Currently, our goal is to post a new video for "In Need of a Refill" every Sunday at 8am MST and for "Questions Over Coffee" on Mondays at 3pm MST when a question is submitted.
