I went to the garden, collecting dry, ready-to-use firewood one by one, and carried it back to the yard. I arranged the firewood, struck a match, and the flames sprang to life with a soft crackling sound. I placed the saj over the fire and prepared to cook a traditional chicken curry. The chicken was cut into small pieces and gently mixed with special curry spices, turmeric, salt, fresh pepper, sour yogurt, buttermilk, tomatoes, and sautéed onions. On the saj over the firewood, the ingredients slowly simmered, and their aroma, mingled with the smoke, filled the entire yard. The crackling of the fire and the saj sounded like the music of nature, and every time I stirred the dish, the flames seemed to cook alongside me. When the curry was ready and its color turned warm and golden, I set the pot aside and walked towards the rose petals in the yard. I picked them one by one and placed them in a basket to dry, to later use in our afternoon tea; the scent of spring lingered on my fingers, bringing calm to my heart. After picking the flowers, it was time to clean the water channels in our village garden. I cleared the flowing water of leaves and debris, reviving the natural flow. Finally, when all the work was done, I enjoyed the delicious chicken curry with my mother.
