While racism and lack of POC representation in the anime community are NOT new topics, the resurgence of these issues is disappointing and heartbreaking to say the least. As a South Asian anime fan myself though, brown voices don't often get heard in these conversations, particularly because we sit in this strange grey area where our culture isn't even seen in anime most of the time anyways. So, in this first episode of Brown Girl Tea With Pri I wanted to dive into the lack of black and brown representation in anime, the racism we see on and off screen, and articulate exactly where I think these issues stem from.
