Bill Gette, Founding Director of Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center and Past President of the Friends of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, has led 14 January travel programs to El Paso, Texas, and along the Rio Grande River to Albuquerque, New Mexico. His itinerary includes many of the most productive birding venues and most beautiful scenic areas in New Mexico (e.g., Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, Organ Mountains, Sandia Crest). During his PowerPoint presentation, Bill will show you his photographs of the diverse habitats he has visited (e.g., Chihuahuan Desert, riparian areas along the Rio Grande, mountain forests) and describe the beautiful wildlife he has encountered. You will see desert specialties of the Chihuahuan Desert, shorebirds in Rio Bosque Wetlands Park, songbirds in the Organ Mountains, and tens of thousands of Snow and Ross’s geese at Bosque del Apache. Bill will also take you on a photographic tour of the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument sites at Abo and Quarai. This program is made possible by the generous donors to the Cary Library Foundation.
