Rosi Braidotti: The New Humanities in a Changing World

This lecture builds on the recent publication of The Edinburgh Companion to the New European Humanities, and provides an overview of recent developments in the academic Humanities both in Europe and beyond. The lecture outlines the different discourses about the threats and opportunities that confront the humanities in our posthuman age of great technological, environmental and social transformation. The focus is on the so-called “new” or “post” humanities - Environmental, Digital, Medical, and Public Humanities. The lecture raises the question: how can the contemporary Humanities expand the legacy of humanism in a more inclusive manner and move beyond anthropocentrism?
