Stained Glass Primary School Art Project - Introduction Video

Here is a video we made for Devonshire Road Primary School in Bolton. We were contacted all the way back at the end of 2019 to collaborate with the students and staff to create a new stained glass window that reflects the school ethos: “Be kind, Be curious, Be the best you can be.” Each class learned about the traditional craft of stained glass and even created their own small “stained glass” piece. They were asked to draw their ideas for the new window and we had so many wonderful drawings to choose from. Beth, our designer composed the design based on the artwork and our talented craftspeople, Katie and Tamsin brought it to life. We used a variety of techniques, from traditional hand cut glass and lead came, etching, glass painting and the more modern method of coloured film and adhesive strip lead. We tried to emulate the children's’ drawing styles and translate them into glass. As you can imagine the window has been long awaited, due to delays with Covid-19 and school closures. So all involved were glad to see the finished result!
